I discovered Copppeneur Chocolatier at the ISM Trade Show in Cologne, Germany, in 2004, which at the time, was the world's largest chocolate exhibition. What set Oliver Coppeneur apart from other exhibitors was his incredible truffles & pralines. In 2006 Oliver was the first small-batch, bean-to-bar chocolate maker in Germany who also purchased organic cocoa beans directly from cocoa farmers.
Coppeneur Canada is Oliver's North American importer.

Coppeneur purchases cocoa beans of the highest quality from farmers who have put all their skill and care into growing, harvesting, fermenting and drying the cocoa beans.
These cocoa beans often cost a multiple of the market price but it's worth every cent to us. Only a fair price enables our farmer partners to earn an adequate income and to continue with the high level of cacao cultivation
MEET THE NORTH AMERICAN IMPORTER
When I graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc. (in molecular & cell biology), I suddenly found myself at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise and then the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto studying to become a Chef.
In 1989, I partnered with a former Chef and we created Filmworks Catering in Calgary. We operated Filmworks for 17 years in the Alberta film industry and then sold the business in 2006.
Off I went to another career in the film industry, this time as a cast driver.
I couldn't leave the food industry behind, so after touring Europe, my passion for great food became a passion for great chocolate!
